Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a Hijri date to Gregorian?
Select “Hijri”, enter the day, month and Hijri year, and the matching Gregorian date appears instantly with the weekday. Select “Gregorian” to convert the other way.
What is the Umm al-Qura calendar?
It is the official Hijri calendar of Saudi Arabia, with month starts calculated astronomically for Makkah. It is used for official documents and transactions.
Why do converters sometimes differ by a day?
Some use an approximate (tabular) Islamic calendar instead of the Umm al-Qura table, or another country’s moon sighting. We use Umm al-Qura; the official start of Ramadan, Shawwal and Dhu al-Hijjah can differ from the table by a day when the moon sighting says so.
How do I convert my Iqama or Absher date?
Saudi documents often show Hijri dates. Choose “Hijri”, enter the date exactly as written, and copy the Gregorian result, or do the reverse if you need the Hijri date.
Which Gregorian year is 1448 AH?
1448 AH starts on 16 June 2026 and overlaps two Gregorian years, because a Hijri year is about 11 days shorter.
What range of dates is supported?
From 1 Muharram 1300 AH (12 November 1882) to the end of Dhu al-Hijjah 1500 AH (16 November 2077), the range of the Umm al-Qura table.
